for everyone
The city of Kandy lies at an altitude of 488.6 meters (1629 feet) above sea level in the center of the island and surrounded by the ranges of mountains. It is still very much a focal point of Sri Lankan culture. Kandy was originally known as Senkadagala pura after a hermit named Senkada who lived there. Many of Sinhalese people call it “Mahanuwara” meaning the "Great City”. But the name Kandy was derived from the Word Kanda, which means mountain. Due to it’s geographical location Kandy was not an easy target for the foreign invaders who could gain the control of coastal area of the island.

In general, Sri Lankan people are very friendly and welcoming. I felt like secured walking among the dark people omitting their strange look, as a stranger. The Sri Lankan also call people with their own way.
Instead of calling 'hey man', 'hei', 'hoi', or 'halloowww', 'Malli' is the way to call our fellow, friends or younger people in Sri Lanka (pronounced Malle) or 'aiyya' for older or more respected people.

It is also rich of fruits (fresh) and rich of culture, which I could not really experience. However, I enjoyed much the city and the slopy roads and of course the spicy food. For big eaters, this is a 'heaven' for you as one portion is actually for two people, applicable for all kind of orders: rice, vegs, and any other meals.

Agree.... Srilankan is generally friendly. I felt secured until continously being followed by Srilankan guys! I felt like I was a rare species in their eyes.
Meanwhile, food is great there.
Oooh... I love Srilankan food.... miss it.
